Documents must first be notarized by a government-authorized agency to verify authenticity. For Maharashtra-issued documents, notarization is done by the State Education Department, while documents from other Indian states are notarized in Delhi.

The documents are then forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs for further stamping and signing.

The signed document is then forwarded to the local UAE embassy in that country for the final embassy stamping.
UAE
The stamped document is sent to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) for the final attestation.
Note
An attested birth certificate is essential for obtaining a family/dependent visa in the UAE, especially for children or spouse sponsorship.
Required by most UAE-based educational institutions during school or university admission as proof of age and identity.
Used as a supporting document for passport applications, Emirates ID, and residency-related procedures for minors or dependents.
Once attested by Indian authorities (MEA) and UAE Embassy, the document becomes legally valid and recognized by UAE government departments.
Acts as legal proof of relationship between child and parent—often required during legal documentation, insurance, or dependent claims.
